Dr Deirdre Kilbane is Head of the Division Emerging Networks Laboratory in the Walton Institute, WIT. Her research interests include nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and quantum communication to develop innovative technologies for the agriculture, healthcare, and information and communication technology (ICT) sectors. Specifically her research focuses on developing implantable medical devices to enable personalised medicine via the internet of bio-nano-things with a particular focus on neurodegenerative disorders and epilepsy.
Dr Kilbane is currently coordinating the FET Open project PRIME: A Personalised Living Cell Synthetic Computing Circuit for Sensing and Treating Neurodegenerative Disorders; which was co-written by WIT & FutureNeuro.
